Suitable for beginners (those with no yoga experience) as well as more advanced yoga practitioners, Kundalini Yoga is not about how to perfect postures. Rather it is about showing up and staying present. It is about how to use the parts of the body--including hands, arms, legs and feet, the breath, the voice, and the brain to gain deeper access to your true self. Through both movement and stillness, the yoga is your guide to a more authentic and heart-centered way of walking the earth every day.
Why would you want to show up and stay present? . . . . . . . .
Well, Kundalini works not just on the body, but also specifically on the brain. The brain is an organ that needs care just like all of your other organs. Three good reasons that this matters? First, the brain controls your flight-or-fight stress response, and one thing most of us can use is a more productive response to stress. Second, anxiety emerges from brain responses to stimuli, and K. yoga and meditation can make you feel less anxious. Likewise depression, which first resides in the brain. Like walking and exercising done regularly, yoga and meditation produce bio-chemical changes in the body and brain that can help fight depression just as effectively as taking medication.
Kundalini is all about how to use the body and brain to gain deeper access to true, embodied wisdom. Through both movement and stillness, this yoga is your guide to a more authentic and heart-centered way of walking the earth every day. Personal experiences, or those of students.
Following each session of asana, music accompaniment and mantra, we will move into silent meditation with a gong bath or other musical accompaniment.
Hope to see you soon! Sat Nam and Blessings
